Graffiti Battle at Palatine Road Car Park August 17th 2014

‘Graffiti Battle’ Palatine Road Car Park on the 17th August 2014.
Despite the weather on Sunday members of The Revoe and Central Drive area community turned out for a graffiti event with a difference.
Mr Dee and Boz Phillips – Last legs Community Arts Organisation, received funding from Friends of Muir Housing and the Area Forum, earlier this year for a graffiti event they called ‘Graffiti Grannies’. Mr Dee worked with a group of older people last year to create a graffiti art wall in the grounds of Lytham Hall and the idea was a hit with the participants. This time the two artists decided to invite a younger group of people to do ‘battle’ against an older group and recruited graffiti artist TeaOne to work with the younger group.

On Sunday the ‘older’ (over 40’s) group of residents turned out in force to battle the younger (under 18s) group. On the day everyone battled with the weather.
‘A picture paints a thousand words’ and here are those words in paint.

We love working with Club2Go. Fantastic and dedicated people who offer activities to young people in areas where there is little or no access to arts and sports during the holidays.

The young participants love the Posca pens that were kindly donated to us by POSCA earlier this year

Subway cars for graffiti at Spare Part Festival Tram Sunday 20th July 2014

Subway cars  for people to add their own graffiti to

The build when we arrived with all the pieces

As  part of the live paint event Mr Dee with the help of our photographer Lee Hodgkiss and our new organisation member David Jennings we created and built 2 small subway cars on wheels that later joined the Tram Sunday parade.

Boz Phillips set up a workshop for  or should I say ‘put out paint all day’ for enthusiastic children , parents and members of the public to paint the subway cars with their graffiti.

The subway cars were a big hit thanks to Mr Dees’ ideas and Dave and Lees help.

Everyone loved the opportunity to decorate the cars from 12 noon until 3.30  when the parade commenced.

See for yourself the participants work below.

We work with Shabby2Chic because they support people in our community to achieve their aims of finding skills and employment. Through Sandra’s dedication to recycling and supporting the people most in need in the community to make Blackpool a better place to live and work.

We recently worked with Sandra on workshops with young people who produced the following ‘Shabby chic’ items. We could not post until now as one item was made for a wedding present.
